Teens Dance For Those Who Can't
On the night of Friday, August 1, 2008 over 130 St. Johns teens danced for 10 straight hours to raise money for Clinton County Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse & Neglect. The mission of the CAN Council is to educate and inform the people of Clinton County about issues regarding child abuse and neglect and to work together as a council to develop and support programs to strengthen the children and families of Clinton County.
In the summer months, over 130 teens solicited donations from individuals and local companies. Teens Dance for Those Who Can’t dance-a-thon, only in its second year of existence, raised a whopping $8,000 for Clinton County CAN Council! In 2007, the teens raised money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Teens from the various Churches will soon be meeting soon to choose a cause for the 2009 dance-a-thon.
REMIX thanks Karla Palmer from CAN who spoke to the teens about the Council, the adult chaperones, dance instructors Richard Klender and Jenny Poff, and guest DJ’s from St. Johns High School - Coach Lasceski, Mr. Sackrider, Mrs. DeDyne, Mr. Davis, and Mr. Parker. These individuals surely provided an inspiring presence at this year’s TEENS DANCE FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T.
